Lazarette

The  lazarette is usually a storage locker used for gear or equipment a sailor or boatswain would use around the decks on a sailing vessel. It is typically found below the weather deck in the stern of the vessel and is accessed through a hatch if accessed from the main deck or a doorway if accessed from below decks. The equipment usually stored in a lazarette would be spare lines, sails, sail repair, line and cable splicing repair equipment, fenders, bosun chair, spare blocks, tools etc.

On a small boat such as a Cape Cutter 19 it is usually a locker in which items which do not have a home are put! The Lazarette on “Halcyon” is a small plastic box.

In the case of Inspiration19.com these are pages which do not relate to Halcyon directly, but may be of interest to other Cape Cutter 19 owners.

These are taken from pages that I entirely wrote for the original Cape Cutter 19 Association site, which were not used on the new WordPress based site.

I have included:

1) David Pecks Diesel Inboard installation (David has kindly given me position to publish his photographs)

2) Mike Brooke’s voyage around the UK

3) Some write ups regarding the Isle of Wight Round The Island Race
